I'm Skip. I don't like wearing shoes, but I dislike dirty beaches even less. I do however like playing on the water. So it made sense to me that I should combine my love for the water, with my dislike of that which pollutes it.

I also have a bit of a thing for distances. This probably started with breaking a few ultra-distance records on the Concept2 rowing machine, & has more recently involved paddling outrigger & Canadian canoes in long distance races.

This time around I thought I'd try my hand at a slightly different mode of transportation: the prone paddleboard, a bit of foam wrapped in carbon, that you paddle in either a prone or kneeling position with just your hands.

A few bits I've done in the past:

  • 2019, April. 1st V1 outrigger canoe. Dordogne Integrale 350km. Argentat to Blaye, France
  • 2018, June. 2nd place. Yukon River Quest. 444miles in 44 hours. Whitehorse to Dawson City, Yukon Territory, Canada
  • 2017, August. V1 outrigger unsupported expedition. 250 miles from Falmouth to Swanage over 7 days. In aid of Surfers against Sewage
  • 2016, August. 170 mile barefoot & unsupported run along the South West Coast Path. In aid of Heroes Haven Swanage
  • 2015, August. Concept 2 rowing machine, tandem world record - 1 million metres in 3 days, 4 hours. In aid of NSPCC & Heroes Haven Swanage
  • 2014, July. Concept 2 rowing machine, solo world record - 1 million metres in 5 days, 1 hour. In aid of Swanage Carnival charities
  • 2013, August. Concept 2 rowing machine, tandem world record - 1 million metres in 3 days, 7 hours. In aid of Children in Need
